Our Story

Too Pretty to Eat

Edible Art Specialty Cakes & Cookies started in a small home kitchen in the piney woods of East Texas. While raising her daughter, Debbie leaned on her skills as an artist and cake decorator to celebrate her daughter's birthdays and other special occasions. Guests were amazed at the skills she had refined in her home, and slowly but surely, her beautiful cake designs were soon recognized as "edible art," and the business was born.

Word spread of Debbie's incredible work, and she was soon noticed by members of the community, who returned for her custom work more and more frequently. The volume was exciting, but proved overwhelming when Debbie and her family realized that their home could not contain her "little" dream any longer.

The business needed a building.

She discovered an old, dilapidated building on South Street in Longview, Texas: the "It'll Do Tavern." Debbie and the old tavern saved each other, and she has since spent over a decade growing the building into a fast-paced bakery with a reputation for irresistible sweetness.

Edible Art Specialty Cakes & Cookies has since completed 2 remodels, added on to its original building, added a mobile food truck, and now seeks to expand yet again with a larger facility that can house not just Debbie's dream, but also provide other budding entrepreneurs with a starting place for their culinary dreams.

At Edible Art, we consider it a privilege to be invited to participate in your most precious moments.

Each dessert that leaves our doors tells a story, and we are proud to be a part of those stories with you.

Debbie Fontaine

Debbie is the Design Consultant who does it all. Let's just say she is the brains of this operation. She is the glue that holds our team in place, and dotes on each of her teammates. Each one of the designers contributes in a very special way, but this lady is and always will be the visionary and the heart of Edible Art!

Team Leader and fabulous baker, this lady has 20+ years of experience in a kitchen.  If you can dream it, Sharlene can make it! She brings much talent to our studio. She is unstoppable in the kitchen and one of the fastest learners who has ever come aboard. We are so blessed that Sharlene has joined our Design Team.

Reina is a phenomenal artist who we are excited to have on the Design Team. She is a young lady with top-notch decorating skills.  A fine decorator with many creative cakes, cookies and other desserts mastered at such a young age; when she gets started, things get wild! Reina has experienced so much in the baking world.  We are so thankful that she walked through our doors with such passion, talent, and positivity.

Jack of all trades, master of technical design! Mykayla is our beloved Texas Tech University Masters graduate who joins the Design Team at every opportunity. She is the webmaster that designed and developed our online store. She is young, but her people skills are not to be underestimated. She is always one step ahead, finding where she is needed before we do. Santa has elves, but Edible Art has Mykayla.

Computer Tech & all around nice guy! In addition to providing a wonderful sense of humor, he keeps our technology up to date with everything from printers to computers and even our Square. Tim is our go-to for all forms of technical communication and fun sarcasm. Our Design Team runs smoothly because of his technological mastery.
